TrainingPeriod
Beforemowinggreenswiththemachine,itis
recommendedthatyoundaclearareaandpractice
startingandstopping,raisingandloweringthecutting
units,turning,etc.Thistrainingperiodwillbe
benecialtotheoperatoringainingcondenceinthe
performanceofthemachine.
BeforeMowing
Inspectthegreenfordebris,removetheagfromthe
cup,anddeterminethebestdirectiontomow.Basethe
directiontomowonthepreviousmowingdirection.
Alwaysmowinanalternatepatternfromtheprevious
mowingsothatthegrassbladeswillbelessapttolay
downandthereforebedifculttotrapbetweenthereel
bladesandbedknife.
MowingProcedures
1.Approachthegreenwiththeshiftselectorinthe
No.1position.Startononeedgeofthegreenso
thattheribbonprocedureofcuttingmaybeused.
Thisholdscompactiontoaminimumandleavesa
neat,attractivepatternonthegreens.
2.Actuatethemowpedalasthefrontedgeofthe
grassbasketscrosstheouteredgeofthegreen.
Thisproceduredropsthecuttingunitstotheturf
andstartsthereels.
Important:Familiarizeyourselfwiththefact
thattheNo.1cuttingunitreelisdelayedand
therefore,youshouldpracticetotrytogain
therequiredtimingnecessarytominimizethe
cleanupmowingoperation.
3.Overlapaminimalamountwiththepreviouscut
onreturnpasses.Toassistinmaintainingastraight
lineacrossthegreenandkeepthemachinean
equaldistancefromtheedgeofthepreviouscut,
establishanimaginarysightlineapproximately6to
10ft(1.8to3m)aheadofthemachinetotheedge
oftheuncutportionofthegreen(Figure38and
Figure39).Somenditusefultoincludetheouter
edgeofthesteeringwheelaspartofthesightline;
i.e.keepthesteeringwheeledgealignedwithapoint
thatisalwayskeptthesamedistanceawayfromthe
frontofthemachine(Figure38andFigure39).

nextpassbymomentarilyturningthemachinein
theoppositedirection,thenturninginthedirection
oftheuncutportion;i.e.,ifintendingtoturnright,
rstswingslightlyleft,thenright.Thiswillassistin
gettingthemachinemorequicklyalignedforthe
