AdjustingtheCuttingUnit
Lift/Drop
Thecuttingunitlift/dropcircuitisequippedwitha
owcontrolvalve(Figure55).Thisvalveispreset
atthefactorybutanadjustmentmayberequiredto
compensatefordifferencesinhydraulicoiltemperatures,
mowingspeeds,etc.Ifanadjustmentisrequired,
proceedasfollows:
Note:Allowthehydraulicoiltoreachfulloperating
temperaturebeforeadjustingtheowcontrolvalve.
1.Raisetheseatandlocatetheowcontrolvalvefor
thecenterpullframe(Figure55)whichislocatedon
thesideofthehydraulicmanifold.
2.Loosenthejamnutontheowcontrolvalve.
3.Rotatetheknob1/4turncounterclockwiseifthe
centercuttingunitisdroppingtoolateor1/4turn
clockwiseifthecentercuttingunitisdroppingtoo
early.
4.Afterthedesiredsettinghasbeenachieved,tighten
thejamnut.

Backlapping
Contactwiththereelsorothermovingparts
canresultinpersonalinjury.
Keepngers,hands,andclothingawayfrom
thereelsorothermovingparts.
Neverattempttoturnthereelsbyhandor
footwhiletheengineisrunning.
1.Positionthemachineonalevelsurface,lowerthe
cuttingunits,stoptheengine,engagetheparking
brake.
2.Unlockandraisetheseattoexposethecontrols.
3.Makeinitialreeltobedknifeadjustmentsappropriate
forbacklappingonallcuttingunitswhicharetobe
backlapped;refertotheCuttingUnitOperator’sManual.
Changingtheenginespeedwhilebacklapping
maycausethereelstostall.
Neverchangetheenginespeedwhile
backlapping.
Onlybacklapatidleenginespeed.
4.Starttheengineandrunatlowidlespeed.
5.RotatetheBacklapLevertothe“R”position
(Figure56).
