appropriatehydraulicuiduntilthelevelreachesthe
bottomofthescreen.Donotoverll.

beforepuncturing.Ensurethepourspoutand
funnelareclean.
4.Installthereservoircap.Wipeupanyuidthatmay
havespilled.

DrainingWaterfromtheFuel
Filter
Anywateraccumulationshouldbedrainedfromthefuellter
beforeeachuse.
1.Positionthemachineonalevelsurfaceandstopthe
engine.
2.Placeadrainpanunderthefuellter.
3.Openthedrainplugonthefuellterapproximately
oneturnanddrainanyaccumulatedwater(Fig.26).
Tightentheplugafterdraining.
Note:Becausetheaccumulatedwaterwillbemixed
withdieselfuel,drainthefuellterintoasuitable
containeranddisposeofitproperly.

CheckingtheTirePressure
Thetiresareover-inatedatthefactoryforshipping
purposes.Reducethepressuretotheproperlevelsbefore
startingtheunit.
Varythetirepressureforthefrontwheels,dependingupon
yourturfconditions,fromaminimumof8psitoamaximum
of12psi(55to83kPa).
Varythetirepressurefortherearwheelfromaminimumof
8psitoamaximumof15psi(55to103kPa).

Eachdaybeforeoperatingthemachine,checkthe
reel-to-bedknifecontact,regardlessifthequalityofcuthad
previouslybeenacceptable.Theremustbelightcontact
acrossthefulllengthofthereelandbedknife;referto
AdjustingtheReeltoBedknifeintheCuttingUnitOperator’s
Manual.
CheckingtheTorqueofthe
WheelNuts
WARNING
Failuretomaintainpropertorqueofthewheelnuts
couldresultinpersonalinjury.
Torquethewheelnutsto70-90ft-lbafter1-4hours
ofoperationandagainafter10hoursofoperation.
Torqueevery200hoursthereafter.
Break-inPeriod
RefertotheEngineManualsuppliedwiththemachineforoil
changeandmaintenanceproceduresrecommendedduring
thebreak-inperiod.
Only8hoursofmowingoperationisrequiredforthebreak-in
period.
Sincethersthoursofoperationarecriticaltofuture
dependabilityofthemachine,monitoritsfunctionsand
performancecloselysothatminordifculties,whichcould
leadtomajorproblems,arenotedandcanbecorrected.
Inspectthemachinefrequentlyduringbreak-inforsignsof
oilleakage,loosefasteners,oranyothermalfunction.
Toensureoptimumperformanceofthebrakesystem,burnish
(break-in)thebrakesbeforeusingthemachine.Toburnish
thebrakes,rmlyapplythebrakesanddrivethemachineat
mowingspeeduntilthebrakesarehot,asindicatedbytheir
smell.Anadjustmenttothebrakesmayberequiredafter
break-in;refertoAdjustingtheBrakes.
