•Maintenancehasbeenperformeduponfuelsystem
components;ie.lterreplaced,etc.
RefertoBleedingtheFuelSystem.
Important:Donotuseetherorothertypesofstarting
uid.
1.Besuretheparkingbrakeisset,theraise/lowermow
controlisdisengaged,andthefunctionalcontrolisin
theneutralposition.
2.Removeyourfootfromthetractionpedalandmake
surethepedalisintheneutralposition.
3.MovethethrottlelevertoSLOWposition.
4.InsertthekeyintotheswitchandrotateittoOn.Hold
itintheOnpositionuntiltheglowplugindicatorlight
goesoff(approximately6seconds).
5.ImmediatelyturntheignitionkeytotheStartposition.
Releasethekeywhentheenginestartsandallowitto
movetotheOnposition.Movethethrottlecontrol
toSlow .
Important:Topreventoverheatingofthestarter
motor,donotengagethestarterlongerthan10
seconds.After10secondsofcontinuouscranking,
wait60secondsbeforeengagingthestartermotor
again.
6.Allowtheenginetowarmupforafewminutesbefore
applyingload.
7.Whentheengineisstartedforthersttime,orafter
anoverhauloftheengine,operatethemachinein
forwardandreverseforonetotwominutes.Turnthe
steeringwheeltotheleftandrighttocheckthesteering
response.Thenshuttheengineoff(seeStoppingin
StartingandStoppingtheEngine)andwaitforall
movingpartstostop.Checkforoilleaks,looseparts
andanyothernoticeablemalfunctions.
Stopping
1.MovethethrottlecontroltoSlow,disengagethe
raise/lowermowcontrol,andmovethefunctional
controltoneutral.
2.RotatethestarterkeytoOfftoshuttheengineoff.
Removethekeyfromtheswitchtopreventaccidental
starting.
3.Closethefuelshut-offvalvesbeforestoringthe
machine.
BleedingtheFuelSystem
1.Positionthemachineonalevelsurface.Makesurethe
fueltankisatleasthalffull.
2.Openthebreathervalve,ontopofthecanister,until
fuelleaksout(Figure35).

4.Cranktheenginefor5secondsthenpause.Repeatthe
procedureuntiltheenginestartsandrunssmoothly.
CheckingtheSafetyInterlock
System
CAUTION
Ifthesafetyinterlockswitchesaredisconnectedor
damagedthemachinecouldoperateunexpectedly
causingpersonalinjury.
•Donottamperwiththeinterlockswitches.
•Checktheoperationoftheinterlockswitches
dailyandreplaceanydamagedswitchesbefore
operatingthemachine.
Thepurposeofthesafetyinterlocksystemistoprevent
operationofthemachinewherethereispossibleinjuryto
theoperatororthemachine.
•Thetractionpedalisinneutral.
•Thefunctionalcontrolleverisinneutral.
Thesafetyinterlocksystempreventsthemachinefrom
movingunless:
•Theparkingbrakeisoff.
•Theoperatorisseated.
•ThefunctionalcontrolleverisinMoworTransport.
Thesafetyinterlocksystempreventsthereelsfromoperating
unlessthefunctionalcontrolleverisintheMowposition.
Performthefollowingsystemchecksdailytobesurethe
interlocksystemisoperatingcorrectly:
1.Sitontheseat,movethetractionpedaltoNeutral,
movethefunctionalcontrollevertoNeutral,and
