ServicingtheAirCleaner
ServiceInterval:Every50hours
•Checktheaircleanerbodyfordamagewhichcouldcause
anairleak.Replaceifdamaged.Checkthewholeintake
systemforleaks,damageorloosehoseclamps.
•Servicetheaircleanerlterbefore200hoursifthe
engineperformancesuffersduetoextremelydusty,dirty
conditions.Changingtheairlterbeforeitisnecessary
onlyincreasesthechanceofdirtenteringtheenginewhen
thelterisremoved.
•Besurethecoverisseatedcorrectlyandsealswiththe
aircleanerbody.
1.Releasethelatchessecuringtheaircleanercovertothe
aircleanerbody(Figure44).

2.Removethecoverfromtheaircleanerbody.Before
removingthelter,uselowpressureair(40psi,clean
anddry)tohelpremovelargeaccumulationsofdebris
packedbetweenoutsideofprimarylterandthe
canister.Avoidusinghighpressureairwhichcould
forcedirtthroughthelterintotheintaketract.This
cleaningprocesspreventsdebrisfrommigratinginto
theintakewhentheprimarylterisremoved.
3.Removeandreplacetheprimarylter.Cleaningofthe
usedelementisnotrecommendedduetothepossibility
ofdamagetotheltermedia.Inspectthenewlterfor
shippingdamage,checkingthesealingendofthelter
andthebody.Donotuseadamagedelement.Insert
thenewlterbyapplyingpressuretotheouterrimof
theelementtoseatitinthecanister.Donotapply
pressuretotheexiblecenterofthelter.
4.Cleanthedirtejectionportlocatedintheremovable
cover.Removetherubberoutletvalvefromthecover,
cleanthecavityandreplacetheoutletvalve.
5.Installthecoverorientingtherubberoutletvalveina
downwardposition–betweenapproximately5:00to
7:00whenviewedfromtheend.
6.Reinstallthecoverandsecurethelatches(
Figure44).

1.Removethedrainplugandletoilowintoadrainpan.
Whentheoilstops,installthedrainplug.
2.Removetheoillter.Applyalightcoatofcleanoilto
thenewltergasket.
3.Screwthelteronbyhanduntilthegasketcontacts
thelteradapter,thentighten1/2to3/4turnfurther.
Donotovertighten.
4.Addoiltothecrankcase;refertoCheckingtheEngine
Oil.
5.Disposeoftheusedoilproperly.
AdjustingtheThrottleControl
Properthrottleoperationisdependentuponproper
adjustmentofthethrottlecontrol.Beforeadjustingthe
carburetor,ensurethatthethrottlecontrolisoperating
properly.
1.MovetheremotethrottlecontrollevertotheSlow
position.
2.Loosenthecableclampscrewsecuringthecabletothe
engine(
