ServiceInterval:Every50hours
Checktheaircleanerbodyfordamagewhichcouldcause
anairleak.Replaceifdamaged.Checkthewholeintake
systemforleaks,damageorloosehoseclamps.
Servicetheaircleanerlterbefore200hoursifthe
engineperformancesuffersduetoextremelydusty,dirty
conditions.Changingtheairlterbeforeitisnecessary
onlyincreasesthechanceofdirtenteringtheenginewhen
thelterisremoved.
Besurethecoverisseatedcorrectlyandsealswiththe
aircleanerbody.
1.Releasethelatchessecuringtheaircleanercovertothe
aircleanerbody(Figure44).

2.Removethecoverfromtheaircleanerbody.Before
removingthelter,uselowpressureair(40psi,clean
anddry)tohelpremovelargeaccumulationsofdebris
packedbetweenoutsideofprimarylterandthe
canister.Avoidusinghighpressureairwhichcould
forcedirtthroughthelterintotheintaketract.This
cleaningprocesspreventsdebrisfrommigratinginto
theintakewhentheprimarylterisremoved.
3.Removeandreplacetheprimarylter.Cleaningofthe
usedelementisnotrecommendedduetothepossibility
ofdamagetotheltermedia.Inspectthenewlterfor
shippingdamage,checkingthesealingendofthelter
andthebody.Donotuseadamagedelement.Insert
thenewlterbyapplyingpressuretotheouterrimof
theelementtoseatitinthecanister.Donotapply
pressuretotheexiblecenterofthelter.
4.Cleanthedirtejectionportlocatedintheremovable
cover.Removetherubberoutletvalvefromthecover,
cleanthecavityandreplacetheoutletvalve.
5.Installthecoverorientingtherubberoutletvalveina
downwardpositionbetweenapproximately5:00to
7:00whenviewedfromtheend.
6.Reinstallthecoverandsecurethelatches(
Figure44).

1.Removethedrainplugandletoilowintoadrainpan.
Whentheoilstops,installthedrainplug.
2.Removetheoillter.Applyalightcoatofcleanoilto
thenewltergasket.
3.Screwthelteronbyhanduntilthegasketcontacts
thelteradapter,thentighten1/2to3/4turnfurther.
Donotovertighten.
4.Addoiltothecrankcase;refertoCheckingtheEngine
Oil.
5.Disposeoftheusedoilproperly.
AdjustingtheThrottleControl
Properthrottleoperationisdependentuponproper
adjustmentofthethrottlecontrol.Beforeadjustingthe
carburetor,ensurethatthethrottlecontrolisoperating
properly.
1.MovetheremotethrottlecontrollevertotheSlow
position.
2.Loosenthecableclampscrewsecuringthecabletothe
engine(
Figure45).
