BrakeMaintenance
AdjustingtheBrakes
Abrakeadjustmentrodislocatedoneachsideofthemachine
sothatthebrakescanbeequallyadjusted.Adjustthebrakes
asfollows:
1.Whilemovingforwardintransportspeed,pressthe
brakepedal;bothwheelsshouldlockequally.
CAUTION
Testingthebrakesinaconnedareawhere
othersarepresentcouldcauseinjury.
Alwayscheckthebrakesinawide,
open-spaced,atareawhichisfreeofother
personsandobstructionsbeforeandafter
adjustment.
2.Ifthebrakesdonotlockequally,disconnectthe
brakerodsbyremovingthecotterpinandclevispin
(Figure53).

3.Loosenthejamnutandadjusttheclevisaccordingly
(Figure53).
4.Assembletheclevistothebrakeshaft(Figure53).
5.Checktheamountoffreetravelofthebrakepedal
whentheadjustmentiscompleted.Thereshouldbe
1/2to1inch(13to25mm)travelbeforethebrake
shoesmakecontactwiththebrakedrums.Adjust,if
necessary,toachievethissetting.
6.Whilemovingforwardintransportspeed,pressthe
brakepedal;bothbrakesshouldlockequally.Adjust,
ifnecessary.
7.Itisrecommendedthatthebrakesbeburnished
annually;refertotheBreak-InPeriodsection.

ServiceInterval:Aftertherst8hours
Makesurethebeltisproperlytensionedtoensureproper
operationofthemachineandpreventunnecessarywear.
1.Loosentheboltssecuringthealternatortotheengine
andadjustingstrap.
