ReplacingtheFuelFilter
ServiceInterval:Every800hours(Soonerifthefuelow
isrestricted)
Anin-linelterisincorporatedintothefuellinebetweenthe
fueltankandcarburetor(Figure44).
DANGER
Incertainconditions,fuelisextremelyammable
andhighlyexplosive.Areorexplosionfromfuel
canburnyouandothersandcandamageproperty.
Drainfuelfromthefueltankwhentheengineis
cold.Dothisoutdoorsinanopenarea.Wipe
upanyfuelthatspills.
Neversmokewhendrainingfuel,andstayaway
fromanopenameorwhereasparkmayignite
thefumes.
1.Closethefuel-shutoffvalve,loosenthehoseclampon
thecarburetorsideoflter,andremovethefuelline
fromthelter(Figure44).

ServicingtheBattery
Properlymaintainthebatteryelectrolyteandkeepthetopof
thebatteryclean.Storethemachineinacoolplacetoprevent
thebatteryfromrunningdown.
Checktheelectrolytelevelevery50operatinghoursor,if
machineisinstorage,every30days.
DANGER
Batteryelectrolytecontainssulfuricacidwhichisa
deadlypoisonandcausessevereburns.
Donotdrinkelectrolyteandavoidcontactwith
skin,eyesorclothing.Wearsafetyglassesto
shieldyoureyesandrubberglovestoprotect
yourhands.
Fillthebatterywherecleanwaterisalways
availableforushingtheskin.
Maintainthecelllevelwithdistilledordemineralizedwater.
Donotllthecellsabovethebottomofthesplitringinside
eachcell.
Keepthetopofthebatterycleanbywashingitperiodically
withabrushdippedinammoniaorbicarbonateofsoda
solution.Flushthetopsurfacewithwateraftercleaningit.
Donotremovethellcapswhilecleaningthebattery.
Thebatterycablesmustbetightontheterminalstoprovide
goodelectricalcontact.
WARNING
Incorrectbatterycableroutingcoulddamagethe
tractorandcablescausingsparks.Sparkscancause
thebatterygassestoexplode,resultinginpersonal
injury.
Alwaysdisconnectthenegative(black)battery
cablebeforedisconnectingthepositive(red)
cable.
Alwaysconnectthepositive(red)batterycable
beforeconnectingthenegative(black)cable.
Ifcorrosionoccursattheterminals,disconnectthecables,
negative(-)cablerst,andscrapetheclampsandterminals
separately.Reconnectthecables,positive(+)cablerst,and
coattheterminalswithpetroleumjelly.
