•Chargethebatteryinanopen,well-ventilated
area,awayfromsparksandames.Unplugthe
chargerbeforeconnectingordisconnectingthe
battery.Wearprotectiveclothinganduseinsulated
tools.
BatterySafety
•Toreducethepotentialforre,keepthebatteries
andmotorareafreeofexcessivegrease,grass,
leaves,andaccumulationofdirt.
•Removealljewelryandwatchesbeforeservicing
thebatteries.
•Donotchargethebatterieswhileservicingthe
machine.
•Alwaysdisconnectallthebatterycablesbefore
servicinganyelectricalcomponents;referto
DisconnectingtheBatteries(page38).
Note:Disconnectingallthebatterycables
isolatespowerfromtheelectricalsystem.
•Batteryelectrolytecontainssulfuricacid,which
produceshydrogen,agasthatisexplosivein
certainconditions.Sulfuricacidcanburnskinand
damageclothing;whenemittedingasform,itcan
damageyourlungs.
–Alwaysservice,store,andchargethemachine
inawell-ventilatedarea.
–Keepsparksandopenamesawayfromthe
batteries.
–Donotsmokenearthebatteries.
–Donotuseanopenametocheckthelevelor
leakageofbatteryelectrolyte.
–Wearpropereye,hand,andfaceprotection.
–Donotleanoverthebatteriesatanytime.
–Avoidbreathinginbatteryfumes.
–Fillthebatterieswherecleanwaterisalways
availableforushingtheskin.
–Ifyougetelectrolyteonyourskinoreyes,
ushtheaffectedareafor20minuteswith
cleanwater.Removeaffectedclothing.Seek
medicalattentionimmediately.
–Keepchildrenandpetsawayfromthebatteries
andelectrolyte.
