StartingtheEngine
1.PlaceallthecontrolsintheOFForDISENGAGED
position.
2.Movethethrottlelevermidwaybetweenthe
SLOWandFASTposition.
3.MovethechokelevertotheONposition.
Note:Chokeisnotrequiredwhenstartinga
warmengine.
4.Insertthekeyintotheignitionswitchandrotate
itclockwisetostarttheengine.Releasethekey
whentheenginestarts.Regulatethechoketo
keeptheenginerunningsmoothly.
Important:Topreventoverheatingofthe
startermotor,donotengagethestarter
longerthan10seconds.After10secondsof
continuouscranking,wait60secondsbefore
engagingthestartermotoragain.
5.Movethethrottlelevertothedesiredengine
speed.
6.Pulltheapleverasfarforwardaspossible.
7.Pushthereelleverforwarduntilthecatch
releases,thenpushittotherearuntilthelever
hitsSTOP.
Note:Donotallowthemachinetostandstill
withtherakeengagedasturfdamagemay
occur.
ShuttingOfftheEngine
1.MovethethrottlelevertotheSLOWposition.
2.Lettheengineidlefor60seconds.
3.TurntheignitionkeytotheOFFpositionand
removethekey.
Note:Tostopthemachineinanemergency,
movetheignitionswitchtotheOFFposition.
AdjustingtheRakeDepth
Theextipreelshouldbeadjustedtoensurethatthe
raketipsslightlytouchsurfacebutdonotpenetrate
theturf.
1.Positionthemachineonalevelsurface.
2.Turnthedepth-adjustmentboltuntiltherake
slightlycontactsthetopoftheturfgrass.Ifa
broomisinstalled,slightcontactshouldbemade
withthesurface.Whenthebroomisoperating,
thecontactwidthsurfaceshouldbeabout25
mm(1inch)wideacrosstheentirelengthofthe
broom(Figure10).
