ServiceInterval:Every25hours
Checktheaircleanerhousingfordamagewhichcouldcause
anairleak.Replaceifdamaged.Checkthewholeintake
systemforleaks,damageorloosehoseclamps
RemovingtheAirFilters
1.Stoptheengine,removethekey,andwaitforallmoving
partstostopbeforeleavingtheoperatingposition.
2.Releaselatchessecuringaircleanercovertoaircleaner
body.Separatecoverfrombody(Figure14).

5.Removethesafetylteronlyifyouintendtoreplaceit.

6.Inspecttheprimarylterfordamagebylookinginto
thelterwhileshiningabrightlightontheoutsideof
thelter.Holesinthelterwillappearasbrightspots.
Ifthelterisdamaged,discardit.
ServicingthePrimaryAirFilter
ServiceInterval:Every200hours
•Iftheprimaryairlterisdirty,bent,ordamaged,replace
it.
•Donotcleantheprimaryairlter.
ServicingtheSafetyAirFilter
ServiceInterval:Every600hours
Important:Neverattempttocleanthesafetyairlter.
Ifthesafetyairlterisdirty,thentheprimaryairlteris
damaged.Replacebothlters.
InstallingtheFilters
Important:Topreventenginedamage,alwaysoperate
theenginewithbothairltersandcoverinstalled.
1.Ifinstallingnewlters,checkeachlterforshipping
damage.Donotuseadamagedlter.
2.Ifthesafetylterisbeingreplaced,carefullyslideit
intothelterbody(
Figure14).
3.Carefullyslidetheprimarylteroverthesafetylter
(Figure14).
Note:Ensurethattheprimarylterisfullyseatedby
pushingonitsouterrimwhileinstallingit.
Important:Donotpressonthesoftinsidearea
ofthelter.
4.Cleanthedirtejectionportlocatedintheremovable
cover.Removetherubberoutletvalvefromthecover,
cleanthecavityandreplacetheoutletvalve.
5.Installtheaircleanercoverwiththesideindicatedas
upfacingupwardandsecurethelatches(
Figure14).
ChangingtheEngineOiland
Filter
ServiceInterval:Aftertherst50hours
Every100hours—Changetheengineoilandlter.
Note:Changetheoilandltermorefrequentlywhen
operatingconditionsareextremelydustyorsandy.
OilType:Detergentoil(APIserviceSJ,SK,SL,orhigher)
CrankcaseCapacity:w/lter,1.9liters(2.0quarts)
1.Starttheengineandletitrunforveminutes.This
warmstheoilsoitdrainsbetter.
2.Parkthemachinesothatthedrainsideisslightlylower
thantheoppositesidetoensurethattheoildrains
completely.
3.Settheparkingbrake,stoptheengine,andremovethe
key.
4.Placeapanbelowtheoildrain.Removetheoildrain
plugtoallowtheoiltodrain(
Figure15).
