contactsthelteradapter,thentightenthelteran
additional1/2turn.Donotovertighten.
12.Checktheoillevel.
13.Slowlyaddadditionaloiltobringtheleveltothefull
markonthedipstick.
14.Replacethellcap.
ServicingtheSparkPlugs
ServiceInterval:Every200hours—Checkthesparkplugs.
Ensurethattheairgapbetweenthecenterandsideelectrodes
iscorrectbeforeinstallingeachsparkplug.Useasparkplug
wrenchforremovingandinstallingthesparkplugsanda
gappingtool/feelergaugetocheckandadjusttheairgap.
Installnewsparkplugsifnecessary.

(0.03inch)
RemovingtheSparkPlugs
1.Stoptheengine,settheparkingbrake,andremovethe
key.
2.Pullthewiresoffofthesparkplugs.
3.Cleanaroundthesparkplugs.
4.Removebothsparkplugsandmetalwashers.
CheckingtheSparkPlugs
1.Lookatthecenterofbothsparkplugs(Figure16).If
youseelightbrownorgrayontheinsulator,theengine
isoperatingproperly.Ablackcoatingontheinsulator
usuallymeanstheaircleanerisdirty.
Important:Nevercleanthesparkplugs.Always
replacethesparkplugswhentheyhaveablack
coating,wornelectrodes,anoilylm,orcracks.

InstallingtheSparkPlugs
1.Threadthesparkplugsintothesparkplugholes.
2.Tightenthesparkplugsto27N-m(20ft-lb).
3.Pushthewiresontothesparkplugs.
RemoveDebrisfromthe
Engine
ServiceInterval:Every100hours
Toensurepropercooling,keepthegrassscreen,coolingns,
andotherexternalsurfacesoftheenginecleanatalltimes.
Every100hoursofoperation(moreoftenunderextremely
dusty,dirtyconditions)removetheblowerhousingandother
coolingshrouds.Cleanthecoolingnsandexternalsurfaces
asnecessary.Makesurethecoolingshroudsarereinstalled.
