Neversmokenearthebatteryandkeepsparks
andamesawayfromthebattery.
7.Whenthebatteryischarged,disconnectthecharger
fromtheelectricaloutletandbatteryposts.Allowthe
batterytositfor5to10minutesbeforeproceeding
tothenextstep.
Note:Afterthebatteryhasbeenactivated,add
onlydistilledwatertoreplacenormalloss,although
maintenance-freebatteriesshouldnotrequirewater
undernormaloperatingconditions.
8.Insertthebatteryintothetrayinthebattery
compartment.Positionthebatterysothattheterminals
aretotheinside.
WARNING
Batteryterminalsormetaltoolscouldshort
againstmetalmachinecomponentscausing
sparks.Sparkscancausethebatterygassesto
explode,resultinginpersonalinjury.
•Whenremovingorinstallingthebattery,
donotallowthebatteryterminalstotouch
anymetalpartsofthemachine.
•Donotallowmetaltoolstoshortbetween
thebatteryterminalsandmetalpartsof
themachine.
WARNING
Batteryterminalsormetaltoolscouldshort
againstmetaltractorcomponentscausing
sparks.Sparkscancausethebatterygassesto
explode,resultinginpersonalinjury.
•Whenremovingorinstallingthebattery,
donotallowthebatteryterminalstotouch
anymetalpartsofthetractor.
•Donotallowmetaltoolstoshortbetween
thebatteryterminalsandmetalpartsof
thetractor.
9.Attachthepositivecable(redcablefromtheignition
switch)tothepositive(+)terminal.
10.Attachthenegativecable(blackcablefromtheengine
block)tothenegative(–)terminalofthebattery.
Important:Makesurethereisclearancebetween
thebatterycablesandthespeedselectorlever.
Verifythatthespeedselectorleverdoesnotcome
within1inch(2.5cm)ofeitherbatterycablewhen
itismovedthroughitsentirerangeofmotion.
Donotwiretieortapethenegativeandpositive
batterycablestogether.
WARNING
Incorrectbatterycableroutingcoulddamage
themachineandcablescausingsparks.
Sparkscancausethebatterygassesto
explode,resultinginpersonalinjury.
•Always
disconnect thenegative(black)
batterycablebeforedisconnectingthe
positive(red)cable.
•Always
connect thepositive(red)battery
cablebeforeconnectingthenegative
(black)cable.
11.Coattheterminalsandmountingfastenerswith
petroleumjellytopreventcorrosion.
12.Installthebatterycoverandsecureitwiththesprings.

Procedure
Toensureproperdebrispickup,makesurethesweeperframe
isparallelwiththeground.
1.Positionthemachineonaat,levelsurface.
2.Removethepinandrotatethejacktotheground.
Aligntheholesandinstallthepin.
3.Adjustthejacksothatthedistancefromthetopofthe
frametothegroundisapproximately59.7cm(23–1/2
inches)(Figure3).
