FlapLever
Movetheapleverdownwardtotheengagedposition
andupwardforthedisengagedposition.Movethe
levertotheupwardpositionwhentransportingthe
machine.
Note:Youmaypositiontheapintheraisedposition
whenpickinguplargeamountsofleaves.
ReelLever
Movethereelleverforwardtoraisetheextipreel.
Tolowertheexreel,movetheleverforward,release
thecatch,thenmovethelevertotherearuntilithits
thestop.Movethelevertotheraisedpositionwhen
themachineisnotinoperation,whenstoringthe
machine,orwhentransportingthemachine(Figure4).

ChokeControl
Tostartacoldengine,closethecarburetorchokeby
movingthechokecontrollevertotheONposition.
Aftertheenginestarts,regulatethechoketokeepthe
enginerunningsmoothly.Openthechokebymoving
thelevertotheOFFposition.Startingawarmengine
requireslittleornochoking(Figure5).
IgnitionSwitch
Theignitionswitch,whichisusedtostartandshut
offtheengine,hasthreepositions:OFF,RUN,and
START.RotatethekeyclockwisetotheSTARTposition
toengagethestartermotor.Releasethekeywhen
theenginestarts(Figure5).Thekeywillmove
automaticallytotheRUNposition.Toshutoffthe
engine,rotatethekeycounterclockwisetotheOFF
position.
ThrottleControl
Thethrottle(Figure5)isusedtooperatetheengineat
variousspeeds.MovingthethrottlelevertotheFAST
positionincreasestheenginespeed.Todecreasethe
enginespeed,movethelevertotheSLOWposition.
Note:Whenoperatingthemachine,runtheengine
atfullthrottle.Operatingthemachineataslowspeed
maydamagetheclutch.
