Ifthemachineissubjectedtoanyoftheconditions
listedbelow,maintenanceshouldbeperformedtwice
asfrequently.
•Desertoperation
•Coldclimateoperation—below10°C(50°F)
•Trailertowing
•Drivingtimetypicallylessthan5minutes
•Frequentoperationindustyconditions
•Constructionwork
•Afterextendedoperationinmud,sand,water,
orsimilardirtyconditions,haveyourbrakes
inspectedandcleanedassoonaspossible.This
preventsanyabrasivematerialfromcausing
excessivewear.
•Underfrequentheavydutyoperatingconditions,
lubricateallgreasettingsandinspectaircleaner
dailytopreventexcessivewear.
PreparingtoMaintainthe
Machine
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface.
2.Engagetheparkingbrake,shutofftheengine,
andremovethekey.
3.Allowtheengineandexhaustsystemtocool.
LiftingtheMachine
DANGER
Themachinemaybeunstablewhenusinga
jack.Itcouldslipoffthejack,injuringanyone
beneathit.
•Donotstarttheenginewhilethemachine
isonajack.
•Alwaysremovethekeyfromthekeyswitch
beforegettingoffthemachine.
•Blockthetireswhenthemachineis
supportedbyliftingequipment.
•Usejackstandstosupportthemachine
onceyouhaveliftedtheit.
Important:Whenevertheengineisrunforroutine
maintenanceand/orenginediagnostics,therear
wheelsofthemachineshouldbe25mm(1inch)
offtheground,withtherearaxlesupportedon
jackstands.
•Theliftingpointatthefrontofthemachineisat
thefrontoftheframebehindthetowingtongue
(Figure22).
