Batteries
ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,engagethe
parkingbrake,shutoffthemachine,removethe
key,andraisecargobed;RaisingtheCargoBed
totheDumpPosition(page20).
2.Raisetheseatassemblytoaccessthebatteries;
refertoRaisingandLoweringtheSeatAssembly
(page30).
3.Checktheeyeletsoneachofthebatteriesto
seeiftheyareeitherblackorwhite(Figure37).
Note:Blackeyeletsindicatethatthebatteries
arefullofwater.Whiteeyeletsindicatethat
waterisneededforthebatteries.

Important:Fullychargethebatteriesbefore
addingthewatertothebatteries.Whilecharging,
theelectrolyteincreasesinvolume,andllinga
lowbatterybeforefullychargingthebatteriescan
causetheelectrolytetooverowandleakoutof
thevent.
Important:Useonlyclean,distilledordeionized
watertollthebatteries.Usingtapwatermay
damageandreducethelifeofthebatteries.

Electrolytewilloverowontootherparts
ofthemachineandseverecorrosionand
deteriorationmayresult.Also,overllingthe
batterymayreducethelifeofthebattery.
ChangingtheBatteries
Whenthemachinebeginstoloseoperatingrange
orwhenthelengthoftimetodischargeorcharge
thebatteryissignicantlyreduced,thebatteriesare
probablywearingandlosingtheirabilitytoholda
charge.T akethemachinetoanAuthorizedService
Dealerandhavethemtestthebatteriestodetermine
whetherthebatteriesneedtobereplaced.Thedealer
canthenreplacethebatteriesforyou.Ifyouwish
toreplacethebatteriesyourself,usethefollowing
procedures:
