INSTALLATION
INSTRUCTIONS
66" THATCHING ATTACHMENT
For Rake-O-Vac Sweepers
MODEL NO. 07178
1. Remove lower belt guard and reel drive belt.
2. Remove capscrew and washer securing jackshaft
pulley to jackshaft
3. Loosen jam nuts and set screws securing
jackshaft pulley to jackshaft and remove pulley.
4. Mount 18 Tooth Jackshaft sprocket to jackshaft
with capscrew and washer previously removed.

5. Tighten (2) set screws and jam nuts on sprocket
hub.
6. Remove fasteners securing idler pulley to
mounting bracket are remove idler.
7. Loosely mount new idler sprocket to mounting
bracket with a capscrew, (7) flatwashers, spacer and
nut as shown in figure 2.

8. Slide Reel Thatcher into position and secure to reel
support arms.
9. Align idler sprocket with jackshaft sprocket and
thatcher sprocket.
10. Install No. 60 chain, tension as required and
tighten nut securing idler sprocket. Lubricate with SAE
30 oil.
11. Insert a flatwasher onto idler sprocket mounting
capscrew. Install lower belt guard and secure with
fasteners previously removed and a additional washer
and nut on idler sprocket capscrew.
NOTE: Spacers mounted on lift mechanism adjusting
screws must be removed when thatcher is installed on
machine.
12. Put reel support arms in a lowered position.
13. Remove jam nut and adjusting screw. Slide spacer
off adjusting screw.

14. Reassemble jam nut and adjusting screw with
spacer positioned on adjusting screw between pivot
block and clevis. This is the storage position for spacer
during thatcher operation.
15. Repeat procedure on other side of sweeper.
NOTE: Spacers should be re-installed whenever the
thatcher is removed and either the brush or flex tip reel
is mounted to sweeper.
