Shutofftheengine,removethekey,andwaitfor
allmovingpartstostopbeforecheckingtheoilor
addingoiltothecrankcase.
Keepyourhands,feet,face,clothing,andother
bodypartsawayfromthemuferandotherhot
surfaces.
ServicingtheAirFilter
ServiceInterval:Every100hoursReplacethe
air-lterelementsoonerifitdirtyor
damaged.
Note:Servicetheairltermorefrequentlyifoperating
conditionsareextremelydustyorsandy.
CheckingtheAirFilter
1.Raisethecargobedandsecureitwiththeprop
rod.
2.Checktheair-lterbodyfordamagethatcould
possiblycauseanairleak(Figure31).
Note:Ensurethattheair-ltercoverissealing
aroundtheair-lterhousing.
Note:Replaceadamagedair-ltercoveror
housing.

3.Pullthelatchoutwardandrotatetheair-lter
covercounterclockwise(Figure31).
4.Removethecoverfromtheair-lterbody.
5.Gentlyslidetheair-lterelementoutofthe
air-lterhousing(Figure31)toreducethe
amountofdustdislodged.
Note:Avoidknockingthelteragainstthe
air-lterhousing.
6.Inspecttheair-lterelement.
Iftheair-lterelementisclean,installthe
lterelement.
Iftheair-lterelementisdamaged,replace
thelterelement;refertoReplacingtheAir
Filter(page31).
ReplacingtheAirFilter
1.Removetheair-lterelement.
2.Inspectthenewlterforshippingdamage.
Note:Checkthesealingendofthelter.
Important:Donotinstalladamagedlter.
3.Installthenewairlter;refertoInstallingtheAir
Filter(page31).
InstallingtheAirFilter
Important:Topreventenginedamage,always
operatetheenginewiththecompleteair-lter
assemblyinstalled.
Note:Donotuseadamagedelement.
Note:Cleaningausedair-lterelementisnot
recommendedduetothepossibilityofdamagetothe
ltermedia.
1.Cleanthedirt-ejectionportlocatedonthe
air-ltercover(Figure31).
2.Removetherubberoutletvalvefromthecover,
cleanthecavity,andreplacetheoutletvalve
(Figure31).
3.Inserttheair-lterelementintotheair-lter
housingbyapplyingpressuretotheouterrimof
theelementtoseatitintotheair-lterhousing
(Figure31).
Note:Ensurethattheltersealsproperlyby
applyingpressuretotheouterrimofthelter
wheninstallingit.Donotpressontheexible
centerofthelter.
4.Aligntheair-ltercoverwiththeair-lterhousing
withtherubberoutletvalveinadownward
position(approximatelybetweenthe5o’clock
and7o’clockpositionswhenviewedfromthe
end)asshowninFigure31.
5.Securethecovertothehousingwiththelatches
(Figure31).
6.Lowerthecargobed.
