Subject: Excessive Front Tire Wear.
Ongoing field testing has shown that in some cases additional front end
loading can cause excessive tire wear, when equipped with options such
as a cab, 1/3 scissors lift, 1/3 tool box, etc. This extra loading can cause
the suspension to compress below normal ride heights creating negative
camber in the front wheels. Operating the vehicle in this manner can
induce wear on the inside tread surfaces.
An optional progressive rate compression spring has been added to the
parts system for use with heavy front-end applications. To differentiate
these springs from the original, they are painted red; the original springs
(87-0690-03) are painted black. These springs must be replaced in pairs
to maintain the handling and load carrying characteristics of the vehicle. It
is also recommended that the front-end alignment be checked per the
procedure listed in the Workman 3000/4000 Series Service Manual (form
# 93808SL) at the time of this repair.
Compression Spring - (105-4183-01) is currently available through your
Toro Commercial Distributor Parts Department. Two (2) springs are
required per vehicle.
