Usehigh-qualityengineoilthatmeetsthefollowing
specications:
APIclassicationlevel:SJorhigher
OilViscosity:SAE30—above4°C(40°F)
CheckingtheEngine-Oil

ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily
Theengineisshippedwithoilinthecrankcase;
however,youmustchecktheoillevelbeforeandafter
yourststarttheengine.
Note:Checktheoilwhentheengineiscold.
Important:Ifyouoverllorunderlltheengine
crankcasewithoilandruntheengine,youmay
damagetheengine.
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,engagethe
parkingbrake,shutofftheengine,removethe
key,andwaitforallmovingpartstostopbefore
leavingtheoperatingposition.
2.Pivottheseatforward.
3.Tokeepdirt,grassclippings,etc.,outofthe
engine,cleantheareaaroundtheoil-llcapand
dipstickbeforeremovingit(Figure24).
4.Pulloutthedipstick(Figure24)andwipeitwith
acleanrag.
