1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,shutoffthe
engine,engagetheparkingbrake,andremove
thekey.
2.Removethedrainplug(Figure26)andlettheoil
owintoadrainpan.Whentheoilstops,install
thedrainplug.

Checkthebodyoftheaircleanerfordamagethat
couldcauseanairleak.Replaceanydamaged
components.Checkthewholeintakesystemfor
leaks,damage,orloosehoseclamps.
Donotchangetheairlterbeforeitisnecessary;
doingsoonlyincreasesthechanceofdirtentering
theenginewhenyouremovethelter.
Besurethatthecoverisseatedcorrectlyand
sealswiththebodyoftheaircleaner.

1.Releasethelatchessecuringtheair-cleaner
covertotheair-cleanerbody(Figure27).

3.Beforeremovingthelter,uselow-pressureair
(40psi,cleananddry)tohelpremovelarge
accumulationsofdebrispackedbetweenthe
outsideoftheprimarylterandthecanister.
Important:Avoidusinghigh-pressureair,
whichcouldforcedirtthroughthelter
intotheintaketract.Thiscleaningprocess
preventsdebrisfrommigratingintothe
intakewhentheprimarylterisremoved.
4.Removeandreplacethelter.
Note:Inspectthenewlterforshipping
damage,checkingthesealingendofthelter
andthebody.Donotuseadamagedelement.
Insertthenewlterbyapplyingpressuretothe
outerrimoftheelementtoseatitinthecanister.
Donotapplypressuretotheexiblecenterof
thelter.
Note:Cleaningtheusedelementisnot
recommendedduetothepossibilityofdamaging
theltermedia.
5.Cleanthedirt-ejectionportlocatedinthe
removablecover.
6.Removetherubberoutletvalvefromthecover,
cleanthecavity,andreplacetheoutletvalve.
7.Installthecover,orientingtherubberoutletvalve
inadownwardposition—betweenapproximately
5o’clockto7o’clockwhenviewedfromtheend.
8.Securethelatches.
