ReplacingtheSparkPlugs
ServiceInterval:Every100hours
Type:ChampionRC14YC(orequivalent)
AirGap:0.76mm(0.030inch)
Note:Thesparkplugsusuallylastalongtime;
however,youshouldremoveandcheckthem
whenevertheenginemalfunctions.
1.Cleantheareaaroundeachsparkplugsothat
foreignmattercannotfallintothecylinderwhen
thesparkplugisremoved.
2.Pullthespark-plugwiresoffthesparkplugsand
removetheplugsfromthecylinderhead.
3.Checktheconditionofthesideelectrode,center
electrode,andtheinsulatortoensurethatthere
isnodamage.
Important:Replaceacracked,fouled,dirty,
orotherwisemalfunctioningsparkplug.
Donotsand-blast,scrape,orcleanthe
electrodesusingawirebrushbecausegrit
mayeventuallyreleasefromtheplug,fall
intothecylinder,anddamagedtheengine.
4.Settheairgapbetweenthecenterelectrode
andsideelectrodesto0.76mm(0.030inch);
refertoFigure28.Installthecorrectlygapped
sparkplugwiththegasketseal,andtightenthe
plugto23N∙m(200in-lb).Ifatorquewrenchis
notused,tightentheplugrmly.

ServiceInterval:Every500hours
Anin-linelterisincorporatedintothefuelline.Use
thefollowingprocedureswhenreplacementbecomes
necessary:
1.Closethefuel-shutoffvalve,loosenthehose
clamponthecarburetorsideofthelter,and
removethefuellinefromthelter(Figure29).

2.Placeadrainpanunderthelter,loosenthe
remaininghoseclamp,andremovethelter.
3.Installthenewlterwiththearrowonthelter
bodypointingawayfromthefueltank(toward
thecarburetor).
4.Slidethehoseclampsontotheendsofthefuel
lines.
5.Pushthefuellinesontothefuellterandsecure
themwiththehoseclamps.
Note:Besurethatthearrowonthesideofthe
lterpointstowardthecarburetor.
