PreparingtheMachine
1.Thoroughlycleanthemachine,theattachments,
andtheengine.
2.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface;engagethe
parkingbrake;shutofftheengine;removethe
key;andwaitforallmovementtostopbefore
leavingthemachine.
3.Checkthetirepressure;refertoCheckingthe
TirePressure(page28).
4.Checkallfastenersforlooseness;tightenas
necessary.
5.Greaseoroilallgreasettingsandpivotpoints;
refertoGreasingtheMachine(page22).
6.Lightlysandandusetouch-uppaintonpainted
areasthatarescratched,chipped,orrusted.
PreparingtheEngine
1.Changetheengineoilandlter;referto
ChangingtheEngineOilandFilter(page24).
2.Starttheengineandrunitatidlespeedfor2
minutes.
3.Shutofftheengine;removethekey;andwait
forallmovementtostopbeforeleavingthe
machine.
4.Thoroughlycleanandservicetheair-cleaner
assembly;refertoServicingtheAirCleaner
(page24).
5.Sealtheair-cleanerinletandtheexhaustoutlet
withweatherproofmaskingtape.
6.Checktheoil-llercapandthefuel-tankcapto
ensurethattheyaresecurelyinplace.
PreparingtheBattery
1.Removethebatteryterminalsfromthebattery
posts.
2.Cleanthebattery,terminals,andpostswitha
wirebrushandabaking-sodasolution.
3.Coatthecableterminalsandbatterypostswith
Grafo112Xskin-overgrease(T oroPart505-47)
topreventcorrosion.
4.Slowlychargethebatteryfor24hoursevery60
daystopreventleadsulfationofthebattery.
Note:Thespecicgravityofafullycharged
batterymeasures1.250.
Note:Storethebatteryinacoolatmospheretoavoid
quickdeteriorationofthechargeinthebattery.T o
preventthebatteryfromfreezing,makesurethatit
isfullycharged.
