TheSafetyInterlockSystem
Ifsafetyinterlockswitchesaredisconnected
ordamagedtheaeratorcouldoperate
unexpectedlycausingpersonalinjury.
Donottamperwiththeinterlockswitches.
Checktheoperationoftheinterlock
switchesdailyandreplaceanydamaged
switchesbeforeoperatingtheaerator.
UnderstandingtheSafetyInterlock
System
Thesafetyinterlocksystemisdesignedtopreventthe
enginefromstartingunlessthetractionbailisinthe
neutralposition.
TestingtheSafetyInterlockSystem
ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily
Testthefollowing:
Theenginemustonlycrankwhenthetractionlever
isintheneutralposition.
Ifthetractionleverisreleasedormovedtothe
neutralposition,thecoringheadshouldraiseand
stoprotating.
Ifthesafetysystemdoesnotoperateasdescribed
above,haveanAuthorizedServiceDistributorrepair
thesafetysystemimmediately.
InstallingtheServiceLatches
Installtheservicelatchesbeforeperformingserviceon
thecoringheadorwhenstoringthemachineformore
thanacoupleofdays.
Anytimethecoringheadistobeserviced,
includingchangingoftinesorturfguards,
installtheservicelatchtosecureheadinthe
raisedpositiontopreventthemfromlowering
andinjuringyouorbystanders.
1.Raisethecoringhead.
2.Removetheclipringsecuringtheservicelatchin
thestorageposition(Figure20).

theservicelatch.
2.Mountatineholdertoeachtinearmwith3bolts
(1/2x1-1/4inches)(Figure22).Torquetheboltsto
75ft-lb(101.6N-m).
