BeforeOperation
BeforeOperationSafety
GeneralSafety
•Neverallowchildrenoruntrainedpeopleto
operateorservicethemachine.Localregulations
mayrestricttheageoftheoperator.Theowner
isresponsiblefortrainingalloperatorsand
mechanics.
•Becomefamiliarwiththesafeoperationofthe
equipment,operatorcontrols,andsafetysigns.
•Knowhowtostopthemachineandshutoffthe
enginequickly.
•Checkthatoperator-presencecontrols,safety
switches,andshieldsareattachedandfunctioning
properly.Donotoperatethemachineunlessthey
arefunctioningproperly.
•Beforeoperating,alwaysinspectthemachineto
ensurethatthetinesareingoodworkingcondition.
Replacewornordamagedtines.
•Inspecttheareawhereyouplantousethe
machineandremoveallobjectsthatthemachine
couldstrike.
•Locateandmarkallelectricalorcommunication
lines,irrigationcomponents,andotherobstructions
intheareatobeaerated.Removethehazards,if
possible,orplanhowtoavoidthem.
•Parkthemachineonalevelsurface;engagethe
parkingbrake;shutofftheengine;removethekey;
andwaitforallmovementtostopbeforeleaving
themachine.
FuelSafety
•Useextremecareinhandlingfuel.Itisammable,
anditsvaporsareexplosive.
•Extinguishallcigarettes,cigars,pipes,andother
sourcesofignition.
•Donotremovethefuelcaporllthefueltank
whiletheengineisrunningorhot.
•Donotaddordrainthefuelinanenclosedspace.
•Donotstorethemachineorfuelcontainerwhere
thereisanopename,spark,orpilotlight,such
asonawaterheaterorotherappliance.
•Ifyouspillfuel,donotattempttostarttheengine;
avoidcreatinganysourceofignitionuntilthefuel
vaporshavedissipated.
AddingFuel
FuelSpecication
•Forbestresults,useonlyclean,fresh(lessthan
30daysold),unleadedgasolinewithanoctane
ratingof87orhigher((R+M)/2ratingmethod).
•Ethanol:Gasolinewithupto10%ethanol
(gasohol)or15%MTBE(methyltertiarybutyl
ether)byvolumeisacceptable.Ethanoland
MTBEarenotthesame.Donotusegasoline
with15%ethanol(E15)byvolume.Neveruse
gasolinethatcontainsmorethan10%ethanol
byvolume,suchasE15(contains15%ethanol),
E20(contains20%ethanol),orE85(containsup
to85%ethanol).Usingunapprovedgasoline
maycauseperformanceproblemsand/orengine
damagewhichmaynotbecoveredunderwarranty.
•Donotusefuelcontainingmethanol.
•Donotstorefueleitherinthefueltankorfuel
containersoverthewinterunlessyouuseafuel
stabilizer.
•Donotaddoiltofuel.
Important:Donotusefueladditivesotherthan
afuelstabilizer/conditioner.Donotusefuel
stabilizerswithanalcoholbasesuchasethanol,
methanol,orisopropanol.
Important:Donotusemethanol,gasoline
containingmethanol,orgasoholcontainingmore
than10%ethanolbecausethefuelsystemcould
bedamaged.Donotmixoilwithfuel.
FillingtheFuelTank
Fueltankcapacity:26.5L(7USgallons)
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,shutoffthe
engine,engagetheparkingbrake,andremove
thekey.
2.Cleanaroundthefuel-tankcapandremoveit
(Figure15).
