1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface;engagethe
parkingbrake;shutofftheengine;removethe
key;andwaitforallmovementtostopbefore
leavingthemachine
2.Liftthelatchleverforthehoodandliftthehood
fromthemachine(Figure31).
3.Verifythattheproximity-switchassembly
(outboardoftheH-frame)isnomorethan1.5
mm(0.06inches)fromthetargetplate(Figure
33).

7.Alignthebracketofthehoodwiththehood
mountonthemachine.
8.Assemblethehoodtothemachineandensure
thatthelatchsecuresthehood.
9.Checktheentrance/exitholequality.
Important:Ifthecoringheadfailstostart
beforeentranceandthepositionswitchis
locatedashighaspermissible,theelectric
clutchmayhavedeterioratedsufcientlyto
causeadelayinengagement.Contactyour
authorizedTorodistributororrefertothe
ServiceManual.
MiniTine(QuadTine)
Becauseofthedoublerowdesign,themini-tinecoring
headrequirestheholespacingtobesetat6.3cm
(2-1/2inches).Groundspeediscriticaltomaintain
theappearanceof3.2cm(1-1/4inches)holespacing.
RefertoAdjustingHoleSpacing(page49)ifyourhole
spacingrequiresasmallchange.
Withtheminitineheadorlargersolidtineuse,theturf
rootstructureisimportanttopreventingturfdamage
duetotearingoftherootzone.Ifthecenter2arms
begintolifttheturfordamagetotherootzoneis
excessive,proceedasfollows:
•Increasetheholespacing
•Decreasetinesize
•Decreasetinedepth
•Removesomeofthetines
Theliftingactionthatsolidtinescreateswhenitis
pulledfromtheturfmaycauseturfdamage.This
liftcanteartherootzoneifthedensityoftinesor
diameteroftinesistoohigh.

Whenaeratingwithlongersolidtines(i.e.,3/8x4
incheslong)orneedletypetines,thefrontoftheholes
maybecomeslottedortufted.T oregainexcellenthole
qualityforthisconguration,slowtheenginehighidle
speeddownto2800to2900rpm.Becausetraction
andcoringheadspeedsincreaseanddecrease
togetherwithenginespeed,holespacingisnot
affected.
