MiniTine(QuadTine)
Becauseofthedoublerowdesign,themini-tinecoring
headrequirestheholespacingtobesetat6.3cm
(2-1/2inches).Groundspeediscriticaltomaintain
theappearanceof3.2cm(1-1/4inches)holespacing.
RefertoAdjustingHoleSpacing(page48)ifyourhole
spacingrequiresasmallchange.
Withtheminitineheadorlargersolidtineuse,theturf
rootstructureisimportanttopreventingturfdamage
duetotearingoftherootzone.Ifthecenter2arms
begintolifttheturfordamagetotherootzoneis
excessive,proceedasfollows:
Increasetheholespacing
Decreasetinesize
Decreasetinedepth
Removesomeofthetines
Theliftingactionthatsolidtinescreateswhenitis
pulledfromtheturfmaycauseturfdamage.This
liftcanteartherootzoneifthedensityoftinesor
diameteroftinesistoohigh.

(SolidTinesorSofterSoil
Conditions)
Whenaeratingwithlongersolidtines(i.e.,3/8x4
incheslong)orneedletypetines,thefrontoftheholes
maybecomeslottedortufted.T oregainexcellenthole
qualityforthisconguration,slowtheenginehighidle
speeddownto2800to2900rpm.Becausetraction
andcoringheadspeedsincreaseanddecrease
togetherwithenginespeed,holespacingisnot
affected.
Ifslowingtheenginespeeddoesnotworktothe
remedyholequalityforthelargersolidtines,the
Roto-Linkdampermechanismmayrequireastiffer
setting.AstifferRoto-Linksettingmayhelpeliminate
thefrontoftheholefrombeingdeformed.However,
undermostconditions,thefactorysettingworksbest.
Note:AlterhalfoftheRoto-Links(3arms)andtest
thedifferenceonasampleplot.
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,shutoffthe
engine,engagetheparkingbrake,andremove
thekey.
2.RemovethelocknutssecuringtheRoto-Link
damperassemblytothecoringheadframe.
3.Removethetopdamper-spacerthatis1.25cm
(1/2inch)thickandre-securetheRoto-Link
damperassemblytothecoringheadframe.Be
suretousethehardenedD-washer.
4.Loosentheboltssecuringthebumperplate.
5.Slidethebumperplateforwardandsecurethe
bolts.ThisallowstheRoto-Linkbumpersto
oscillateproperly.
Takethemachinetoatestareaandcomparethehole
quality.Ifimproved,completethisprocedurewith
remainingRoto-Linkdamperassemblies.
Note:YoumustreversethepositionoftheRoto-Link
damperifyouchangebacktoacoringstyletineor
anyofthemini-tines.
AfterOperation
AfterOperationSafety
Parkthemachineonalevelsurface;engagethe
parkingbrake;shutofftheengine;removethekey;
andwaitforallmovementtostopbeforeleaving
themachine.
Keepallpartsofthemachineingoodworking
conditionandallhardwaretightened.
Replaceallworn,damaged,ormissingdecals.
CleaningtheMachine
ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily
1.Thoroughlywashthemachine.
Useabrushtoremovecaked-onmaterial.
Note:Useagardenhosewithoutanozzle
toavoidforcingwaterpastthesealsand
contaminatingbearinggrease.
2.Usemilddetergenttocleanthecovers.
Aftercleaning,applyacoatofautowax
periodicallytomaintaintheglossynishofthe
cover.
3.Inspectthemachinefordamage,oilleaks,and
componentandtinewear.
4.Remove,clean,andoilthetines.Sprayalight
oilmistoncoringheadbearings(crankand
damperlinks).
Important:Securethecoringheadwiththe
servicelatchifyoustorethemachineformore
thanacoupleofdays.
