1.Keepthetopofthebatterycleanbywashingit
periodicallywithabrushdippedinammoniaor
bicarbonateofsodasolution.
Important:Donotremovethellcapswhile
cleaning.
2.Flushthetopsurfacewithwateraftercleaning.
3.Removethebattery-cellcapsandcheckthe
electrolytelevel.
4.Ifneeded,adddistilledordemineralizedwater
untiltheelectrolytelevelisatthebottomofthe
splitringinsideeachcell.
Important:Donotllthecellswithwater.
5.Installthecellcaps.
CheckingtheBatteryConnections
ServiceInterval:Yearly—Checkthebatterycable
connections.
WARNING
Batteryterminalsormetaltoolscouldshort
againstmetaltractorcomponents,causing
sparks.Sparkscancausethebatterygasses
toexplode,resultinginpersonalinjury.
Whenremovingorinstallingthebattery,
donotallowthebatteryterminalstotouch
anymetalpartsofthemachine.
Donotallowmetaltoolstoshortbetween
thebatteryterminalsandmetalpartsofthe
machine.
WARNING
Incorrectbatterycableroutingcoulddamage
themachineandcablescausingsparks.
Sparkscancausethebatterygassesto
explode,resultinginpersonalinjury.
Alwaysdisconnectthenegative(black)
batterycablebeforedisconnectingthe
positive(red)cable.
Alwaysconnectthepositive(red)battery
cablebeforeconnectingthenegative
(black)cable.
1.Unlatchandopenthebatterycompartment
cover.
2.Checkthatthebattery-cableclampsaresecure.
Tightenloosebattery-cableclampshardware.
3.Checkthebattery-cableclampsandbattery
terminalsforcorrosion.
4.Iftheterminalsarecorroded,removethe
negativebatterycable.
5.Removethepositivebatterycable.
6.Cleancableclampsandbatteryterminals.
7.Connectthepositivebatterycable.
8.Connectthenegativebatterycable.
9.Coatthecableterminalsandbatterypostswith
Grafo112Xskin-overgrease(ToroPartNo.
505-47).
10.Closeandlatchthebatterycompartmentcover.
CheckingtheFuses
Theelectricalsystemisprotectedbyfuses(Figure
51).Itrequiresnomaintenance;however,ifafuse
blows,checkthecomponent/circuitforamalfunction
orshort.
1.Toreplacefuses,pulloutonthefusetoremove
it.
