CheckingtheCoringHead
Bearings
ServiceInterval:Yearly—Checkthecoringheadbearings.
Every500hours—Inspectthecoringheadbearings,if
needed,replace.
Theaeratorhasnogreasettingsthatmustbelubricated.
Important:Bearingsrarelyfailfromdefectsinmaterials
orworkmanship.Themostcommonreasonforfailure
ismoistureandcontaminationworkingitswaypast
theprotectiveseals.Bearingsthataregreasedwillrely
uponregularmaintenancetopurgeharmfuldebrisfrom
thebearingarea.Sealedbearingsrelyonaninitialll
ofspecialgreaseandarobustintegralsealtokeep
contaminantsandmoistureoutoftherollingelements.
Thesealedbearingsrequirenolubricationorshortterm
maintenance.Thisminimizesroutineservicerequired
andreducesthepotentialofturfdamageduetogrease
contamination.Thesesealedbearingpackageswillprovide
goodperformanceandlifeundernormaluse,butperiodic
inspectionsofbearingconditionandsealintegrityshould
beconductedtoavoiddowntime.Thesebearingsshould
beinspectedseasonallyandreplacedifdamagedorworn.
Bearingsshouldoperatesmoothlywithnodetrimental
characteristicssuchashighheat,noise,looseness,orrust
weeping.
Duetotheoperatingconditionsthesebearing/sealpackages
aresubjectto(e.g.,sand,turfchemicals,water,impacts,etc.)
theyareconsiderednormalwearitems.Bearingsthatfaildue
tocausesotherthandefectsinmaterialsorworkmanshipare
typicallynotcoveredunderwarranty.
Note:Bearinglifecanbenegativelyaffectedbyimproper
washdownprocedures.Donotwashdowntheunitwhenit
isstillhotandavoiddirectinghigh-pressureorhighvolume
sprayatthebearings.
Itisnotuncommonfornewbearingstopurgesomegrease
outthesealsonanewunit.Thispurgedgreasewillturnblack
incolorduetocollectionofdebrisandnotduetoexcessive
heat.Itisgoodpracticetowipethisexcessgreasefromthe
sealsaftertheinitial8hours.Theremayalwaysappeartobea
wetareaaroundtheseallip.Thisisgenerallynotdetrimental
tobearinglife,butkeepsthesealliplubricated.
EngineMaintenance
ServicingtheAirCleaner
ServiceInterval:Every25hours—Cleanthefoamairlter
elementandcheckthepaperelementfor
damage.
Every100hours—Replacethepaperairlterelement.
RemovingtheFilters
1.Stoptheengine,settheparkingbrake,andremovethe
key.
2.Cleanaroundtheaircleanertopreventdirtfrom
gettingintotheengineandcausingdamage.
3.Unscrewtheknobandremovetheaircleanercover
