TheSafetyInterlockSystem
CAUTION
Ifsafetyinterlockswitchesaredisconnectedor
damagedtheaeratorcouldoperateunexpectedly
causingpersonalinjury.
•Donottamperwiththeinterlockswitches.
•Checktheoperationoftheinterlockswitches
dailyandreplaceanydamagedswitchesbefore
operatingtheaerator.
UnderstandingtheSafetyInterlock
System
Thesafetyinterlocksystemisdesignedtopreventthe
enginefromstartingunlessthetractionbailisinthe
neutralposition.
TestingtheSafetyInterlockSystem
ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily
Testthefollowing:
•Theenginemustonlycrankwhenthetractionlever
isintheneutralposition.
•Ifthetractionleverisreleasedormovedtothe
neutralposition,thecoringheadshouldraiseand
stoprotating.
Ifthesafetysystemdoesnotoperateasdescribed
above,haveanAuthorizedServiceDistributorrepair
thesafetysystemimmediately.
InstallingtheServiceLatches
Installtheservicelatchesbeforeperformingserviceon
thecoringheadorwhenstoringthemachineformore
thanacoupleofdays.
DANGER
Anytimethecoringheadistobeserviced,
includingchangingoftinesorturfguards,install
theservicelatchtosecureheadintheraised
positiontopreventthemfromloweringand
injuringyouorbystanders.
1.Raisethecoringhead.
2.Removetheclipringsecuringtheservicelatchin
thestorageposition(
Figure20).

1.Raisethecoringheadandlockitinpositionwith
theservicelatch.
2.Mountatineholdertoeachtinearmwith3bolts
(1/2x1-1/4inches)(Figure22).Torquetheboltsto
75ft-lb(101.6N-m).
Note:Theboltsareprovidedinthetineholderkits.
