•Removesomeofthetines
Thisdamageiscausedbytheliftingactionthatsolid
tinescreatewhenpulledfromtheturf.Thisliftcan
teartherootzoneifthedensityoftinesordiameter
oftinesistoohigh.
FrontHoleDimpledorPushed(Solid
TinesorSofterSoilConditions)
Whenaeratingwithlongersolidtines(i.e.3/8x4
incheslong)orneedletypetines,thefrontoftheholes
maybecomeslottedortufted.Toregainexcellenthole
qualityforthisconguration,slowtheenginehighidle
speeddownto2800–2900RPM.Theholespacingis
notaffectedasthetractionandcoringheadspeedsare
bothafunctionofenginespeed.
Ifslowingtheenginespeeddoesnotworktothe
remedyholequalityforthelargersolidtines,the
Roto-Linkdampermechanismmayrequireastiffer
setting.AstifferRoto-Linksettingmayhelpeliminate
thefrontoftheholefrombeingdeformed.However,
undermostconditions,thefactorysettingworksbest.
Note:AlterhalfoftheRoto-Links(3arms)andtest
thedifferenceonasampleplot.
1.RemovethelocknutssecuringtheRoto-Link
damperassemblytothecoringheadframe.
2.Removethetopdamper–spacer(1/2inch(1.25
cm)thick)andre–securetheRoto-Linkdamper
assemblytothecoringheadframe.Besuretouse
thehardenedDwasher.
3.Loosentheboltssecuringthebumperplate.
4.Slidethebumperplateforwardandsecurethebolts.
ThisallowstheRoto-Linkbumperstooscillate
properly.
Taketheaeratortoatestareaandcomparethehole
quality.Ifimproved,completethisprocedurewith
remainingRoto-Linkdamperassemblies.
Note:ThisrepositioningoftheRoto-Linkdamper
mustbereversedifthetinetypeischangedbacktoa
coringstyletineoranyofthemini–tines.
UponCompletion
Afterdailyuse,thoroughlywashthemachinewitha
gardenhosewithoutanozzlesocontaminationandseal
andbearingdamageduetoexcessivewaterpressurewill
beavoided.Abrushmaybeusedtoremovecaked-on
material.Usemilddetergenttocleanthecovers.
Applyingacoatofautowaxperiodicallywillretain
thecover’sglossynish.Aftercleaning,inspectfor
machinedamage,oilleakage,componentandtinewear.
Remove,clean,andoilthetines.Sprayalightoilmist
oncoringheadbearings(crank&damperlinks).
Securetheservicelatchiftheaeratoristobestoredfor
morethanacoupledays.
