CheckingtheCoringHead
Bearings
ServiceInterval:Yearly—Checkthecoringhead
bearings.
Every500hours—Inspectthecoring
headbearings,ifneeded,replace.
Theaeratorhasnogreasettingsthatmustbelubricated.
Important:Bearingsrarelyfailfromdefectsin
materialsorworkmanship.Themostcommon
reasonforfailureismoistureandcontamination
workingitswaypasttheprotectiveseals.Bearings
thataregreasedwillrelyuponregularmaintenance
topurgeharmfuldebrisfromthebearingarea.
Sealedbearingsrelyonaninitialllofspecialgrease
andarobustintegralsealtokeepcontaminantsand
moistureoutoftherollingelements.
Thesealedbearingsrequirenolubricationorshortterm
maintenance.Thisminimizesroutineservicerequired
andreducesthepotentialofturfdamageduetogrease
contamination.Thesesealedbearingpackageswill
providegoodperformanceandlifeundernormaluse,
butperiodicinspectionsofbearingconditionandseal
integrityshouldbeconductedtoavoiddowntime.These
bearingsshouldbeinspectedseasonallyandreplacedif
damagedorworn.Bearingsshouldoperatesmoothly
withnodetrimentalcharacteristicssuchashighheat,
noise,looseness,orrustweeping.
Duetotheoperatingconditionsthesebearing/seal
packagesaresubjectto(e.g.,sand,turfchemicals,water,
impacts,etc.)theyareconsiderednormalwearitems.
Bearingsthatfailduetocausesotherthandefectsin
materialsorworkmanshiparetypicallynotcovered
underwarranty.
Note:Bearinglifecanbenegativelyaffectedby
improperwashdownprocedures.Donotwash
downtheunitwhenitisstillhotandavoiddirecting
high-pressureorhighvolumesprayatthebearings.
Itisnotuncommonfornewbearingstopurgesome
greaseoutthesealsonanewunit.Thispurgedgrease
willturnblackincolorduetocollectionofdebrisand
notduetoexcessiveheat.Itisgoodpracticetowipe
thisexcessgreasefromthesealsaftertheinitial8hours.
Theremayalwaysappeartobeawetareaaroundthe
seallip.Thisisgenerallynotdetrimentaltobearinglife,
butkeepsthesealliplubricated.
EngineMaintenance
ServicingtheAirCleaner
ServiceInterval:Every25hours—Cleanthefoamair
lterelementandcheckthepaper
elementfordamage.
Every100hours—Replacethepaper
airlterelement.
RemovingtheFilters
1.Stoptheengine,settheparkingbrake,andremove
thekey.
2.Cleanaroundtheaircleanertopreventdirtfrom
gettingintotheengineandcausingdamage.
3.Unscrewtheknobandremovetheaircleanercover
