Lubrication
CheckingtheCoringHead
Bearings
ServiceInterval:Yearly—Checkthecoringhead
bearings.
Every500hours—Inspectthecoringhead
bearings,ifneeded,replace.
Theaeratorhasnogreasettingsthatmustbe
lubricated.
Important:Bearingsrarelyfailfromdefectsin
materialsorworkmanship.Themostcommon
reasonforfailureismoistureandcontamination
workingitswaypasttheprotectiveseals.
Bearingsthataregreasedwillrelyuponregular
maintenancetopurgeharmfuldebrisfromthe
bearingarea.Sealedbearingsrelyonaninitial
llofspecialgreaseandarobustintegralsealto
keepcontaminantsandmoistureoutoftherolling
elements.
Thesealedbearingsrequirenolubricationorshort
termmaintenance.Thisminimizesroutineservice
requiredandreducesthepotentialofturfdamage
duetogreasecontamination.Thesesealedbearing
packageswillprovidegoodperformanceandlife
undernormaluse,butperiodicinspectionsofbearing
conditionandsealintegrityshouldbeconducted
toavoiddowntime.Thesebearingsshouldbe
inspectedseasonallyandreplacedifdamagedor
worn.Bearingsshouldoperatesmoothlywithno
detrimentalcharacteristicssuchashighheat,noise,
looseness,orrustweeping.
Duetotheoperatingconditionsthesebearing/seal
packagesaresubjectto(e.g.,sand,turfchemicals,
water,impacts,etc.)theyareconsiderednormalwear
items.Bearingsthatfailduetocausesotherthan
defectsinmaterialsorworkmanshiparetypicallynot
coveredunderwarranty.
Note:Bearinglifecanbenegativelyaffectedby
improperwashdownprocedures.Donotwash
downtheunitwhenitisstillhotandavoiddirecting
high-pressureorhighvolumesprayatthebearings.
Itisnotuncommonfornewbearingstopurgesome
greaseoutthesealsonanewunit.Thispurged
greasewillturnblackincolorduetocollectionof
debrisandnotduetoexcessiveheat.Itisgood
practicetowipethisexcessgreasefromtheseals
aftertheinitial8hours.Theremayalwaysappearto
beawetareaaroundtheseallip.Thisisgenerally
notdetrimentaltobearinglife,butkeepstheseallip
lubricated.
