Subject: Pulley Wear Due to Debris Entering Drive Train Area.
Wear of moving parts, such as the drive pulleys, may occur when debris enters the
drive train area. This is especially noticeable in light soil conditions that contain
abrasives such as silica sand.
Brush (104-0961) may be installed on each side of the Tine Arm opening as shown
below. Two brushes are used for each Tine Arm in the machine. The brushes provide
a barrier to reduce direct entry of airborne debris into the area (note, the brushes do not
completely cover the opening). Two Screws (321-4) and two Lock Nuts (3296-42) are
required for each brush installed. An example of the installation is shown below.
Contact you local Toro distributor to obtain parts or for assistance with this bulletin.
Installation:
1. Position each brush to overlap each other and cover the opening as shown.
2. Use the holes in the brush flange to mark the holes to be drilled in the aerator.
3. Drill ¼ inch (6.4 mm) holes through frame plate in two locations for each brush.
4. Install the fasteners with the nuts at the top.
Note: The holes in the brush need to be enlarged to this drill size also.
