Subject: Rotalink Arm damage and loose Rotalink Element.
The Rotalink Arm may become damaged or distorted due to improper operating
techniques resulting in a loose Rotalink Element. Damaged Rotalink Arms and loose
Rotalink Elements may result in poor hole-quality. The key factors below are covered in
the Operator’s Manual and Operator’s Video (Tape 01087SV or CD 02096SD).
1. Always disengage the PTO or lower the engine speed to idle before raising the
aerator. Never operate the coring head in the air at full speed. The uncontrolled
Tine Arm mass will cause the Rotalink Arms to make heavy contact with the frame
opening and mounting bracket. The Rotalink Arms will only withstand a limited
amount of this abuse before damage occurs.
2. Select the proper tractor gear and control downhill tractor speed to prevent
exceeding the maximum 2.5 mph (4 km/hr) coring speed. Exceeding the maximum
recommended speed while coring will over-run the coring operation. Doing so can
result in the Rotalink Arm making heavy contact with the framework as the tines fail
to clear the turf soon enough.
Typical signs of damage due to improper operation are highlighted below.
