Neverallowchildrenoruntrainedpeopleto
operateorservicethemachine.Localregulations
mayrestricttheageoftheoperator.Theowner
isresponsiblefortrainingalloperatorsand
mechanics.
Becomefamiliarwiththesafeoperationofthe
equipment,operatorcontrols,andsafetysigns.
Alwaysshutofftheengineofthetractionunit,
removethekey,waitforallmovingpartstostop,
andallowthemachinetocoolbeforeadjusting,
servicing,cleaning,orstoringthemachine.
Knowhowtostopthemachineandshutoffthe
enginequickly.
Donotoperatethemachinewithoutallguards
andothersafetyprotectivedevicesinplaceand
functioningproperlyonthemachine.
Beforeoperating,alwaysinspectthemachineto
ensurethatthetinesareingoodworkingcondition.
Replacewornordamagedtines.
Inspecttheareawhereyouwillusethemachine
andremoveallobjectsthatthemachinecould
strike.
Locateandmarkallelectricalorcommunication
lines,irrigationcomponents,andotherobstructions
intheareatobeaerated.Removethehazards,if
possible,orplanhowtoavoidthem.
Ensurethatyourtractionunitissuitableforuse
withamachineofthisweight.Checkwithyour
tractionunitsupplierormanufacturer.

AdjustingtheAeration
Depth
Important:Adjusttheaerationdepthonlywhen
thetractionunitisparked,theparkingbrakeis
engaged,thePTOisdisengaged,andtheengine
isshutoff.

aligningthetinetipwiththedesiredaeration
depthasshowninFigure23.
