WARNING
Adjustingorrepairingthemachinewhile
thetractionunitisrunningmayresultinan
accidentandsevereinjuryordeath
•Beforeleavingtheoperator’sseat,
disengagingthePTOdrive,engagingthe
parkingbrake,shuttingofftheengine,and
removethekey.
•Beforerepairingthemachine,loweritonto
thestoragestandsorappropriateblocking.
•Ensurethatallsafetydevicesaresecured
inproperplacebeforeresumingoperation.
•EngagethePTOatlowenginespeed.Increase
enginespeedtoachievePTOspeedof540rpm
(maximum)andthelowermachine.Operateat
engineataspeedthatthemachinerunsmost
smoothly.
Note:Changingengine/PTOspeedinaparticular
tractionunitgear(orxedhydrostaticpedal
positiononatractionunitwithahydrostatic
transmission)doesnotchangeholespacing.
•Makeverygradualturnswhenaerating.Never
makesharpturnswiththemachinelowered.Plan
youraerationpathbeforeloweringthemachine.
•Iftheoperatingloadslowstheenginewhen
aeratingthemachineonhardgroundorgoing
uphill,raisethemachineslightlyuntiltheengine
regainsspeed,thenlowerthemachineagain.
•Donotaerateifthegroundistoohardordry.Best
resultsareobtainedafterarainorwhenturfhas
beenwateredthepreviousday.
Note:Iftherollerridesupoffthegroundwhile
aerating,thegroundistoohardtoachievethe
desireddepth;reducetheaerationdepthuntilthe
rollercontactsthegroundduringoperation.
•Raisethemachinepenetrationifthegroundis
hardpacked.Cleanupcoresandaerateatdeeper
penetration,preferablyafterwatering.
•TheProCore864isoffsettotherightsideof
thetractionunittoallowaeratingwithoutdriving
overthecoreswiththetires.Wheneverpossible,
aeratewiththelongeroffsettowardstheprevious
aerationpass.
•Alwayscheck/adjustthetoplinkwheneveryou
changetheaerationdepth.Thefrontofthe
machineshouldbevertical.
•Lookbackwardfrequentlytoensurethatthe
machineisoperatingproperly,andalignmentis
maintainedwithpreviouspasses.
•Alwayscleartheareaofalldamagedmachine
parts,suchasbrokentines,etc.,topreventthem
frombeingpickedupandthrownbymowersor
otherturfmaintenanceequipment.
•Replacebrokentines,andinspectandcorrect
damagetothosestillusable.Repairanyother
machinedamagebeforecommencingoperation.

•Parkthemachineonalevelsurface;engagethe
parkingbrake;shutofftheengine;removethekey;
andwaitforallmovementtostopbeforeleaving
themachine.
•Keepallpartsofthemachineingoodworking
conditionandallhardwaretightened.
•Replaceallworn,damaged,ormissingdecals.
TransportingtheMachine
Tobegintransportoperation,raisethemachineand
disengagethePTO.Toavoidlossofcontrol,traverse
steepinclinesslowly,approachroughareasat
reducedspeedandcrosssevereundulationscarefully.
Important:Donotexceedtransportspeedsof
24km/h(15mph).
CleaningtheMachine

Important:Donotusebrackishorreclaimed
watertocleanthemachine.
•Afterdailyuse,thoroughlywashthemachine
withagardenhosewithoutanozzle,toavoid
contaminationandsealandbearingdamagedue
toexcessivewaterpressure.
Note:Useabrushtohelpremovethicklayered,
dried,orcompacteddirtanddebris.
•Usemilddetergenttocleanthecovers.
•Inspectformachinedamage,leakingoil,and
componentandtinewear.
•Aftercleaningthemachine,greasealldrivelines
androllerbearings;refertoGreasingtheBearings
andBushings(page30).
•Sprayalightoilmistonthecoringheadbearings
(crankanddamperlinks).
•Remove,clean,andoilthetines.
