ServicingtheSparkPlugs
Ensurethattheairgapbetweenthecenterandsideelectrodes
iscorrectbeforeinstallingthesparkplug.Useasparkplug
wrenchforremovingandinstallingthesparkplugsanda
gappingtool/feelergaugetocheckandadjusttheairgap.
Installanewsparkplugsifnecessary.

CheckingtheSparkPlugs
ServiceInterval:Every200hours
1.Lookatthecenterofthesparkplugs(Figure50).If
youseelightbrownorgrayontheinsulator,theengine
isoperatingproperly.Ablackcoatingontheinsulator
usuallymeansthattheaircleanerisdirty.

2.Checkthegapbetweenthecenterandsideelectrodes
(Figure50).Bendthesideelectrode(Figure50)ifthe
gapisnotcorrect.
RemovingtheSparkPlugs
1.Stoptheengine,removethekey,andwaitforallmoving
partstostopbeforeleavingtheoperatingposition.
2.Disconnectthewiresfromthesparkplugs(Figure51).

thattheairgapissetcorrectly.
2.Tightenthesparkplugsto24.4to29.8N-m(18to
22ft-lb).
3.Connectthewirestothesparkplugs(Figure50).
