InspectingandCleaningthe
Brush/ChopperHousing
ServiceInterval:Every4hoursCleanthe
brush/chopperhousingmoreoften
inhighsoilmoistureconditions.
Thebrush/chopperhousingswillbuildupwithmud
morerapidlywhenusedingrasslongerthanoneinch
heightofcut,clayandloamsoilorinearlymorning
dew.Ifthebrushhousingisnotcleaned,premature
weartothebrushwilloccur.Withpropermaintenance
thebrushshouldlastapproximately100hours.
Tocleanthehousings,proceedasfollows:
1.Raisetheprocessorontothetransportwheels.
2.Loosenandremovetherearcovermountingbolts.
Pivotthecoverforward.
3.Usingthescraper,locatedatthefrontofthe
machine,thoroughlycleanthehousingofmud.
4.Pivotthecoverdownandsecurewiththemounting
bolts.
InspectionandCleanupAfter
Operation
Whenoperationhasbeencompleted,thoroughly
cleanandwashthemachine.Usethewash-outports
(Figure37)orspraythechopperarea.Startthemachine
andincreasespeeduntilChopperrotatorisengaged.
Standtoonesideatrearofmachineandspraywater
intospinningchopperuntilclean.Aftercleaning,it
isrecommendedthatthemachinebeinspectedfor
possibledamagetomechanicalcomponents.These
procedureswillassurethatthemachinewillperform
satisfactorilyduringnextoperation.

CAUTION
Whencleaningthechopperarea,standclearof
theoutputchutetoavoidbeingstuckbythrown
objects.
InspecttheChopperTips
Uponcompletionofeachfairwayorsportseld,
inspectthechoppertipsfordamageandreplaceany
retainingboltswhichmayhavebeensheared.
Note:Thechoppertipshavebeendesignedsothatif
anitemsuchasarockispickedup,oneoftheretaining
boltswillshearthuspreventingdamagetocritical
components.
Toremoveashearedboltendfromthechoppertip,
proceedasfollows:
1.Removethenonshearedboltsecuringthechopper
tiptotheblade(
Figure38).Removethechopper
tipfromtheblade.
