Procedure

Inspectthesparkarresterevery50hoursfordamage,

suchasholesinthescreen,andforbuild-uponthe

screen.Ifitisdamaged,replaceitwithanewspark

arrester.Ifitisdirty,removeitandcleanthescreen

withawirebrushand/orsoakitinsolvent.Installitas

indicatedinthefollowingprocedures.

1.StopthePTO,settheparkingbrake,stoptheengine,

andremovetheignitionkey.

2.Allowthetractionunittocoolcompletely.

3.Removethemuferheatshield

4.Removethefournutsandlockwasherssecuringthe

mufertothestudsontheengine.

5.Removetheoldmuferandgasketsfromtheengine,

ensuringthatyoucleanallpiecesofthegasketsoff

oftheengineexhaustmanifold.

3 Installing the Cable Heat Shield (For Models 74240 and 74241) Parts needed for this procedure: 1 Cable heat shield 1 Bolt, (1/4 x 3/4 inch) 1 Locknut, (1/4 inch) Procedure 1. Remove the bolt below the cable bracket which is installed into the engine (Figure 2). Figure 1 2. Install the cable heat shield below the cable bracket using the bolt removed in step 1 (Figure 2). The cable heat shield needs to be installed so it is between the muffler and the cable bracket. 1.

Slide the slotted end of the spark arrestor over the exhaust outlet on the muffler as far as possible by hand (Figure 3). 2. Slide the clamp over the arrestor until it is flush with the slotted end of the arrestor so that the clamp covers the slots in the arrester (Figure 3). 3. Tighten the clamp. Figure 3 1.
