ChargingtheBattery

Bulkelectrolytewith1.265specicgravitymustbe
purchasedfromalocalbatterysupplyoutlet.
DANGER
Batteryelectrolytecontainssulfuricacidwhichisa
deadlypoisonandcausessevereburns.
Donotdrinkelectrolyteandavoidcontactwith
skin,eyesorclothing.Wearsafetyglassestoshield
youreyesandrubberglovestoprotectyourhands.
Fillthebatterywherecleanwaterisalwaysavailable
forushingtheskin.
Followallinstructionsandcomplywithallsafety
messagesontheelectrolytecontainer.
Important:Neverllthebatterywithelectrolyte
whilethebatteryisinstalledonamachine.
Electrolytecouldbespilledonotherpartsand
causecorrosion.
1.Makesurethetopofthebatteryiscleananddry.
2.Removetheventcapsfromthebattery(
Figure1).
Carefullylleachcellwithelectrolyteuntiltheplates
arecoveredwithabout1/4inch(6mm)ofuid.

electrolytetosoakintotheplates.Rellasnecessary
tobringtheelectrolytetowithinabout1/4inch(6
mm)ofthebottomofthellwell(Figure1).
4.Installthebatteryventcaps.
5.Connecta3to4ampbatterychargertothebattery
posts(Figure2).Chargethebatteryatarateof3to
4ampsuntilthespecicgravityis1.250orhigher
andthetemperatureisatleast60°F.(16°C)withall
cellsgasingfreely.
WARNING
Chargingthebatteryproducesgassesthatcan
explode.
Neversmokenearthebatteryandkeepsparks
andamesawayfromthebattery.
