Remove the lower bolt from the striker mount; refer to Figure 1.

3. Knock out the hole plug in each end of the tailgate (Figure 3). Figure 3 1. Hole plug 4. Insert the lanyard rod through the tailgate so that both ends of the rod are exposed (Figure 4). Lift and hold the tailgate in place, and secure the lanyards to the lanyard rod using a flat washer and a hex head bolt on each rod end (Figure 4).
