Drilling the Plate Mounting Holes (Pre-2017 Models Only) Installing the Skid Plates 1. If your machine is a 2017 or later model, remove and discard the existing skid plates and hardware. 1. To install the plates on older models, you must first drill holes. The hole should be centered in the hinge; use the following graphic to correctly drill the hole. 2. Install the skid plate on the back side of the hinge as shown in Figure 3.
