1 Preparing the Machine No Parts Required Procedure 1. Park the machine on a level surface. 2. Engage the parking brake. 3. Shut off the engine. 4. 2. Removing the Bail Remove the nut, bolt, compression spring, and spacer that secures the throttle arm to the handle (Figure 4). 1. Installing the Handle 1. Use the bolts and nuts that your removed in step 5 in Removing the Handle (page 2) to secure the handle to the handle mount; refer to Figure 5. 2. Connect the traction-cable spring to the new connector. 5 Installing the Proximity-Sensor Assembly Parts needed for this procedure: 1 Proximity-sensor assembly 2 Flange nut (1/4 inch) 2 Double-ended screw Procedure 1. Remove the socket-head screws from the spacer on the control shaft (Figure 10). 2. Use 2 double-ended screws and 2 flange nuts (1/4 inch) to secure the proximity-sensor assembly to the control shaft (Figure 10). 3. Torque the screws and nuts to 9 to 12 N∙m (7 to 9 ft-lb).
7 Adjusting the Bail-Latch-Spacer Position Installing the Wire Harness and Interlock Module No Parts Required Parts needed for this procedure: Procedure Adjust the bail-latch-spacer position so that the spacer is between the bail latch and the upper chassis tab; refer to “B” in Figure 11. 1 Wire harness 1 Interlock module 2 Screw Procedure 1. 8 3. Use the nut (5/16 inch) to secure the lever to the control shaft (Figure 13). 4. Torque the nut to 19 to 24 N∙m (14 to 18 ft-lb). Procedure Remove the cap from the control shaft (Figure 13).
Operation Using the Traction Lever Use the traction lever to engage or disengage the traction drive. • Engage the traction drive: Move the lever down to the ENGAGED position (Figure 14). • Disengage the traction drive: Move the lever up to the DISENGAGED position (Figure 14). g281791 Figure 14 1.
