Sharpenorreplacetheblade.Maintainitmorefrequentlyiftheedgedullsquicklyin
roughorinsandyconditions.

Tightenanyloosefasteners.
AdjustingtheSelf-Propel
Drive
Ifthemachineisnew,doesnotself-propel,orittends
tocreepforward,adjustthedrivecable.
1.Movethemachineoutsideandontoapaved
surfacenearasolidwalltosafelypreventthe
machinefrommovingforwardwhilethemotor
isturnedon.
2.Positionthemachinewiththefronttiresagainst
thewall.
Note:Ensurethattheareaiswellventilated
andclearofdebristhatcouldbethrownbythe
machine.
3.Startthemotor;refertoStartingtheMachine
(page17).
4.Pulltheself-propel-drivebartothehandle.
Note:Thewheelsshouldstarttoturnasthe
self-propel-drivebarjusttouchesthehandle.
5.Shutoffthemotor.
6.Ifyoumustadjustthemachine,dothefollowing:
Ifthewheelsdonotspinwhenyouengage
theself-propel-drivebar,thetractionbeltis
tooloose.Rotatethewheel-drive-control
knob(Figure22)clockwise1turnandrepeat
steps3through5.
