Inspectthebladeperiodicallyforwearor
damage.
Replaceawornordamagedblade.
InspectingtheAccelerator
ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily—Inspect
theacceleratorforwearordamage.
Carefullyexaminetheacceleratorforexcessivewear
(Figure24).Becausesandandabrasivematerialcan
wearawaythemetal(especiallyintheareashown
asitem2inFigure24),checktheacceleratorbefore
usingthemachine.Ifyounoticethatatabonthe
acceleratorhasbeenworndowntoasharpedgeor
thereisacrack,replacetheaccelerator.

thicklypaddedglove.
2.Removethebladebolt,thelockwasher,the
accelerator,andtheblade(Figure23).
SharpeningtheBlade
ServiceInterval:Every50hours—Sharpenor
replacetheblade.Maintainitmore
frequentlyiftheedgedullsquicklyin
roughorinsandyconditions.
Filethetopsideofthebladetomaintainitsoriginal
cuttingangle(Figure25A)andinnercuttingedge
radius(Figure25B).Thebladewillremainbalancedif
youremovethesameamountofmaterialfromboth
cuttingedges.
