Preparation
•Onlyuseaccessoriesandattachmentsapproved
bythemanufacturer.
•Wearappropriateclothingincludinghardhat,
safetyglasses,andearprotection.Longhair,
looseclothingorjewelrymaygettangledinmoving
parts.
•Inspecttheareawheretheequipmentistobe
usedandremoveallobjectssuchasrocks,toys
andwirewhichcanbethrownbythemachine.
•Checkthatoperator'spresencecontrols,safety
switchesandshieldsareattachedandfunctioning
properly.Donotoperateunlesstheyare
functioningproperly.
SafeHandlingofFuels
•Toavoidpersonalinjuryorpropertydamage,use
extremecareinhandlinggasoline.Gasolineis
extremelyammableandthevaporsareexplosive.
•Extinguishallcigarettes,cigars,pipes,andother
sourcesofignition.
•Useonlyanapprovedfuelcontainer.
•Neverremovefuelcaporaddfuelwiththeengine
running.
•Allowenginetocoolbeforerefueling.
•Neverrefuelthemachineindoors.
•Neverstorethemachineorfuelcontainerwhere
thereisanopename,spark,orpilotlightsuchas
onawaterheateroronotherappliances.
•Neverllcontainersinsideavehicleoronatruck
ortrailerbedwithaplasticliner.Alwaysplace
containersonthegroundawayfromyourvehicle
beforelling.
•Removeequipmentfromthetruckortrailerand
refuelitontheground.Ifthisisnotpossible,then
refuelsuchequipmentwithaportablecontainer,
ratherthanfromafueldispensernozzle.
•Keepthenozzleincontactwiththerimofthefuel
tankorcontaineropeningatalltimesuntilfueling
iscomplete.
•Donotuseanozzlelockopendevice.
•Iffuelisspilledonclothing,changeclothing
immediately.
•Neveroverllfueltank.Replacefuelcapand
tightensecurely.
Operation
•Neverrunanengineinanenclosedarea.
•Onlyoperateingoodlight,keepingawayfrom
holesandhiddenhazards.
•Onlystartenginefromtheoperator'sposition.
•Besureofyourfooting,especiallywhenbacking
up.Walk,don'trun.Neveroperateonwetgrass.
Reducedfootingcouldcauseslipping.
•Slowdownanduseextracareonhillsides.Be
suretotravelsidetosideonhillsides.Turf
conditionscanaffectthemachine'sstability.Use
cautionwhileoperatingneardrop-offs.
•Donotoperatethelawnmowerwithouteitherthe
grasscatcherortheguardinplace.
•Donotchangetheenginegovernorsettingor
overspeedtheengine.
•Stoponlevelgroundandshutoffenginebefore
leavingtheoperator'spositionforanyreason
includingemptyingthecatcheroruncloggingthe
chute.
•Stopequipmentandinspectbladeafterstriking
objectsorifanabnormalvibrationoccurs.Make
necessaryrepairsbeforeresumingoperations.
•Keephandsandfeetawayfromthecuttingunits.
•Lookbehindanddownbeforebackinguptobe
sureofaclearpath.
•Keeppetsandbystandersaway.
•Slowdownandusecautionwhencrossingroads
andsidewalks.Stopbladeifyouarenotmowing.
•Beawareofthemowerdischargedirectionand
donotpointitatanyone.
•Donotoperatethemowerundertheinuenceof
alcoholordrugs.
•Usecarewhenloadingorunloadingthemachine
intoatrailerortruck.
•Usecarewhenapproachingblindcorners,shrubs,
trees,orotherobjectsthatmayobscurevision.
MaintenanceandStorage
•Stopengineanddisconnectsparkplugwire.Wait
forallmovementtostopbeforeadjusting,cleaning
orrepairing.
•Cleangrassanddebrisfromcuttingunit,drive,
mufer,andenginetohelppreventres.Cleanup
oilorfuelspillage.
•Letenginecoolbeforestoringanddonotstore
nearame.
•Shutofffuelwhilestoringortransporting.Donot
storefuelnearamesordrainindoors.
