Procedure
Theenginecrankcaseisshippedwithoutoil.
Beforestartingtheengine,llthecrankcasewith
oil.Theenginecrankcasecanhold0.65L(22oz)
ofoil.Useonlyhigh-qualitySAE10W-30weight
detergentoilthathastheAmericanPetroleumInstitute
(API)serviceclassicationSH,SJ,orequivalent.
Beforeeachuse,ensurethattheoillevelisbetween
thelower-limitandupper-limitmarksonthedipstick
(Figure7).

Note:Whenthecrankcaseisempty,pourabout3/4
ofthecrankcasecapacityofoilinthecrankcase,then
followtheprocedureinthissection.
1.Movethemachineontoalevelsurface.
2.Cleanaroundthedipstick(Figure7).
3.Removethedipstickbyrotatingthecap
counterclockwiseandpullingitout.
4.Wipethedipstickcleanwithacleancloth.
5.Insertthedipstickintothellerneck(butdonot
rotatethecapclockwisetosecureit),then
removethedipstick.
6.Readtheoillevelonthedipstick.
Iftheoillevelisbelowthelower-limitmark
onthedipstick,slowlypourasmallamount
ofoilintotheoil-lltube,wait3minutes,and
repeatsteps4through6untiltheoillevelis
attheFullmarkonthedipstick.
Iftheoillevelisabovetheupper-limitmark
onthedipstick,draintheexcessoiluntilthe
oillevelonthedipstickisattheFullmark.

Important:Iftheoillevelinthecrankcase
istoolowortoohighandyourunthe
engine,youmaydamagetheengine.
7.Insertthedipstickintothellerneckandrotate
thecapclockwiseuntilitistight.
