Important:Shiftingspeedswhilesqueezing

Run/Shiftposition(Figure16)wheneveryou
changethegroundspeed.
Note:Youcanvarythegroundspeedbyincreasingor
decreasingthedistancebetweentheblade-controlbar
andthehandle.Lowerthebartodecreasetheground
speedwhenyouaremakingaturnorifthemachine
ismovingtoofastforyou.Ifyoulowerthebartoo
far,themachinestopsself-propelling.Squeezethe
barclosertothehandletoincreasethegroundspeed.
Whenyouholdthebartightagainstthehandle,the
machineself-propelsatthemaximumgroundspeed.
Movetheself-propel-drivelevertotheNeutralposition
whenyouusethemachinefortrimming.
RecyclingtheClippings
Thismachinecomesfromthefactoryreadytorecyclegrass
andleafclippingsbackintothelawn.Topreparethemachine
torecycle:
•Ifthegrassbagisonthemachine,removeit;referto
RemovingtheGrassBag(page14).
•Iftherear-dischargeplugisnotinstalled,gripitby
thehandle,raisethereardoor,andinsertitintothe
rear-dischargechuteuntilthelatchlocksintoplace
(Figure17).

WARNING
Operatingthemachinetorecyclelawnclippings
withoutthepluginplaceallowsobjectstobe
throwninyourdirectionorinthedirectionof
bystanders.Also,contactwiththebladescould
occur.Thrownobjectsorbladecontactcancause

Ensurethattherear-dischargeplugisinplace
beforeyourecycletheclippings.Neverengagethe
bladeswithouteithertherear-dischargeplugorthe
grassbaginstalledonthemachine.
BaggingtheClippings
Usethegrassbagwhenyouwanttocollectgrassandleaf
clippingsfromthelawn.
WARNING
Aworngrassbagcouldallowsmallstonesand
othersimilardebristobethrowninyourdirection
orinthedirectionofbystanders,resultinginserious
personalinjuryordeath.
Checkthegrassbagfrequently.Ifitisdamaged,
installanewTororeplacementbag.
WARNING
Thebladesaresharp;contactingthebladescan
resultinseriouspersonalinjury.
Stoptheengineandwaitforallmovingpartstostop
beforeleavingtheoperatingposition.
