Alwaysshutoffthemachine,waitforallmoving
partstostop,andallowthemachinetocoolbefore
adjusting,servicing,cleaning,orstoringit.
PreparingtheFuelSystem
Emptythefuelfromthefueltankwhenmowingforthe
lasttimebeforestoringthemachine.
1.Runtheengineuntilitshutsofffromrunning
outoffuel.
2.Choketheengineandstartitagain.
3.Allowtheenginetorununtilitshutsoff.
Whenyoucannolongerstarttheengine,itis
sufcientlydry.
PreparingtheEngine
1.Whiletheengineisstillwarm,changetheoilin
thecrankcase;refertoChangingtheEngineOil
(page23).
2.Removethesparkplug.
3.Usinganoilcan,addabout30ml(1oz)of
engineoiltotheenginecrankcasethroughthe
spark-plughole.
4.Slowlyrotatetheengineseveraltimesby
pullingtherecoil-starthandletodistributetheoil
throughouttheenginecrankcase.
5.Installthesparkplugbutdonotconnectthe
wiretothesparkplug.

2.Cleananydirtandchafffromthecylinder,
cylinderheadns,andblowerhousing.
3.Removegrassclippings,dirt,andgrimefrom
theexternalpartsoftheengine,theshrouding,

5.Checktheconditionoftheaccelerator;referto

6.Servicetheairlter;refertoServicingtheAir

7.Tightenallnuts,bolts,andscrews.

RemovingtheMachine
fromStorage
1.Checkandtightenallfasteners.
2.Removethesparkplugandspintheengine
rapidlyusingthestartertoblowouttheexcess
oilfromthecylinder.
3.Cleanthesparkplugorreplaceitifitiscracked,
broken,oriftheelectrodesareworn.
4.Installthesparkplug;refertoServicingthe
SparkPlug(page24).
5.Performanyneededmaintenanceprocedures;
refertoMaintenance(page22).
6.Fillthefuelinthefueltankwithfreshfuel.
7.Checktheengine-oillevel.
8.Connectthewiretothesparkplug.
