14.Securelyinstallthecoverwiththe2nutsthat
youremovedinstep3.

Every100hours—Changetheengineoil.
1.Runtheenginetowarmtheengineoil.
Note:Warmoilowsbetterandcarriesmore
contaminants.
WARNING
Oilmaybehotafterenginehasbeenrun,
andcontactwithhotoilcancausesevere
personalinjury.
Avoidcontactingthehotengineoilwhen
youdrainit.
2.Shutofftheengineandwaitforallmovingparts
tostop.
3.Disconnectthewirefromthesparkplug.
4.Closethefuelvalvebymovingthefuel-valve
levertotheleft(Figure16).
5.Drainthegasolinefromthefueltank.
6.Placeasuitabledrainpanunderthedipstick/oil
drain.
7.Cleanaroundthedipstick.
8.Removethedipstickbyrotatingthecap
counterclockwiseandpullingitout.
9.Tipthemachineontoitsrightside(airlterup)
todraintheoilintothedrainpan.
10.Afterdrainingtheoil,returnthemachinetothe
operatingposition.
11.Fillthecrankcasetotheupper-limitmarkon
thedipstickwithfreshoil;referto3Fillingthe
CrankcasewithOil(page9).
12.Insertthedipstickintothellerneckandrotate
thecapclockwiseuntilitistight.
13.Wipeupanyspilledoil.
14.Recycletheusedoilaccordingtolocalcodes.
